Impact Statement
Home Is Somewhere Else is designed to foster empathy towards undocumented families and immigrant communities. It aims to spark dialogues about the challenges faced by undocumented youth and motivate audiences to seek policy changes. The film particularly focuses on youth, recognizing their role as key influencers. It aims to make issues that seem distant more relatable, often mirroring stories found in their own classrooms. Screened internationally in high schools across countries like Mexico, the USA, Canada, France, and Turkey, it's now part of the "Between Dos Mundos" Tour in the USA. This tour includes university screenings and a Master Class on Empathy and Storytelling by the directors, enhancing its impact.

Our aim is to change the narrative about the lives and experiences of undocumented youth and their families to make societies more empathic to immigrants living in their countries, especially among youth.
Impact Goals
  1. CREATE empathy and solidarity towards undocumented youth and their families, especially among young people.
  2. SUPPORT our protagonists' quest for reuniting with their families.
  3. ENCOURAGE audiences to support the work of Undocumented Youth Organizations through donations, volunteering or being informed of their activities and taking part of them.
  4. EMPOWER audiences to demand a stop for families' separations and deportations globally.
  5. GENERATE discussions among legislators about the urgent need for a Migration Reform based on a Human Rights approach that finishes family separation.
Impact Strategy
  • Identify financial partners and apply for funding for a binational impact campaign.
  • To set up an educational campaign in schools in Mexico and the US (with the possibility of expanding geographically) to create empathy and solidarity among young people towards immigrant youth and families.
  • Organize community and grassroots screenings, with the participation of the protagonists of the film.
  • Host screenings to generate discussions among legislators about the urgent need for a Migration Reform based on a Human Rights approach that finishes family separation.
  • Partner with young undocumented activists and NGOs to screen the film with other communities fighting for the same cause.
