À Tangier, en Virginie, le maire Peyton et sa communauté se mobilisent pour construire une digue garantissant la protection de leur île face aux tempêtes. Malgré le scepticisme des habitants quant au changement climatique, ces derniers se lient d’une amitié improbable avec trois cinéastes défenseurs de l’environnement. Le film Stayers explore les raisons pour lesquelles nous réagissons de manière défensive face à des opinions divergentes, en prônant le dialogue et le débat. Il met en lumière les défis de l’écoute active et des conversations constructives malgré les clivages idéologiques. Stayers incite le public à repenser l’écoute mutuelle dans un contexte de polarisation et d’anxiété.

- Amplify vulnerable shoreline communities’ voices in their call for political and financial support to strengthen community climate resilience initiatives.
- Policy support & funding for climate adaptation initiatives to save Tangier Island (including waterbird habitat) and community (culture, history, tradition).
