Dans la banlieue de Milan, le torse d’un homme à moitié nu est retrouvé près de la voie ferrée menant à la gare. Personne ne connaît son identité, il n’a pas de carte d’identité. Il deviendra l’un des Pure Unknowns: des cadavres ou des squelettes qui arrivent chaque année à la morgue de Milan et dont personne ne s’occupe. La négation de ce droit inquiète Cristina Cattaneo, anthropologue médico-légale, médecin légiste, professeure et fondatrice de Labanof. Cristina veut redonner à chaque Pure Unknown le nom et la dignité qu’il mérite. Mais elle devra se battre contre l’indifférence des institutions pour atteindre son but.

Impact Statement
The purpose, through the film, is to raise consciousness about an inalienable right: the right to identity. Utilizing Dr. Cristina Cattaneo's narrative as a medium, we are creating a website and a crowdfunding campaign so that by the time the film is screened in theatrical and non-theatrical contexts, the public will find a reference point to contribute to the battle carried out by our protagonists. Another goal of ours is to interact with national and international realities so that the issue of recognition and the right to identity becomes central.

Through the film, we aim to raise public and political consciousness about an inalienable right often neglected: the right to identity.
Impact Goals
  1. To raise awareness of Labanof and Cristina’s work.
  2. To push a public debate around the theme “right of identity.”
  3. Take the public debate to the EU Parliament.
Impact Strategy
  • Create the website of the project/film.
  • Link it to a crowd funding campaign.
  • With the result of this crowd funding campaign, hopefully thousands of EU and other citizens will participate and raise media attention around the theme.
  • Push the EU government to create humanitarian corridors for migrants instead of new walls.
