Tickets for people assisting people with reduced mobility
When purchasing a ticket for a person with reduced mobility (online or at a ticket desk), it is possible to obtain a free ticket for the person assisting them.
Location and access
The main venues of the FIFDH and the vast majority of other venues are accessible to people with reduced mobility. For more information on accessible venues in Geneva, click here.
The Simon movie theater of the Cinémas du Grütli, as well as other partner venues such as the Musée d’ethnographie de Genève (MEG) and the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum (MICR) are equipped with hearing loop system. Find out more information about these places on this page.
Guide dogs and assistance dogs are authorised on all the sites, including in the screening rooms.
Website and digital communication
The redesign of the website at the end of 2023 enabled to improve the legibility and accessibility of its content in particular by now using the hyphenation point (‧) instead of the midpoint. This character maximises ease of reading and digital inclusion for visually impaired people by being ignored during vocalisation. In addition, a contrasted option has been implemented, allowing users to navigate in either dark or light mode. Fonts can also be enlarged, improving legibility and making reading more accessible. The use of alternative texts – on the Festival’s website and social networks – also enables image description when the image is inaccessible to the user.
In our video productions, the addition of subtitles allows everyone to enjoy and interact with our content, whether they have a hearing impairment or prefer to watch videos without sound. Similarly, the ability to mute videos is also offered to enhance the user experience in all circumstances and situations.
Inclusive offers
Audio description
Audio description is essential for making films and videos accessible to visually impaired people. It takes the form of a voice-over describing what is happening on screen – in order to enable everyone to follow the plot. Every year at FIFDH, several films are shown with audio description and subtitles via the Greta application, thanks to Regards Neufs.
French sign language translation
Several FIFDH Forums and discussions are interpreted into French sign language in order to include people who are deaf or hard of hearing and to encourage the equal participation of all participants.

Solidarity tickets
Established several years ago, solidarity tickets provide people facing precarious situations and socio-cultural associations with the opportunity to attend to a screening of the FIFDH. In 2024, in partnership with the Bureau de promotion de l’égalité et de prévention des violences (BPEV), 300 people attended a free screening of the film Bye bye Tibériade by Lina Soualem.
Cultural mediation
In an effort to transcend social, cultural and generational and geographical barriers, the Festival collaborates with numerous institutions throughout the Canton.
- Screenings and jury panels in correctional facilities (La Brenaz and Champ-Dollon): this programme is designed as a pedagogical workshop which develop attendees’ analytical, listening and public speaking skills.
- Events in centres d’accueil et d’hébergement (CHCs): in collaboration with the Hospice général, these initiatives enable the CHCs to become fully-fledged players in Geneva’s cultural life, by creating links between people of migrant background and the local population. The Festival also involves CHC residents in its team of volunteers to gain an insider’s perspective of FIFDH.
- Screenings and jury panels in hospitals. The MEA (Children’s and teenagers’ centre) offers comprehensive care for the mental health of children and adolescents, incorporating culture into their care. The FIFDH collaborates with the MEA on an Artopie jury workshop for teenagers from various units. By expressing their point of view and debating the stance of others, the youth jury members develop a renewed confidence in their abilities.
