Some Strings

Some strings is a collection of unprecedented filmic gestures originating in Palestine, where poet and teacher Refaat Alareer was targeted by Israeli strikes, along with seven members of his family. He published his last poem, If I Must Die, five weeks before his murder. Refaat Alareer asks those ‘who must live’ to create a kite – a long-standing object of resistance – out of bits of string and some strings, as each of his readers has inherited.

Launched in March 2024, Some strings has so far brought together more than 100 filmmakers and artists, producing almost 6 hours of films, which have been shown around the world since 25 June, with no date limit.
