In the Land of Brothers

Following America’s invasion of Afghanistan, nearly four million Afghans fled to Iran, at the time referred to as the “land of brothers.” Against this backdrop, one refugee family embarks on a new life, underestimating the challenges that await in a society where they are seen as outsiders. The film follows Mohammad, a talented student; Leila, an isolated woman; and Qasem, who bears the burden of his family’s sacrifices. In the Land of Brothers examines what it means to be “the other” in a place you believed would welcome you as kin. But it is also a story of love, loyalty, and sacrifice, as each character navigates the hardships of forced exile.
