2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the Srebrenica genocide. Photographer Kristian Skeie returns to the scene of this massacre to capture the day-to-day reality of a place steeped in memory. The FIFDH presents an exceptional encounter with the artist.
Thirty years ago, in Srebrenica, Bosnia-Herzegovina, a mass killing took place. Over the course of one week in July 1995, 8,373 men and boys were murdered—a genocide. Although much has changed in the town, people remain distant from their neighbours. Kristian Skeie’s photographs document the lives of those who still reside there today.
