The Edge of Democracy
Hors Compétition - Documentaire
Brazil became a democracy in 1985. The former militant worker “Lula”, then the ex-guerrilla Dilma Rousseff were elected to the presidency, bringing 20 million Brazilians out of poverty and asserting the country as a superpower in the making. But underneath the surface, corruption continues to plague the country… Filmmaker Petra Costa makes an impressively edited film, a portrait of a nation with hints of Greek tragedy, rancid ideologies, collective tragedies and paradise lost.
