Since 7th October 2023, the Hamas attack and Israel’s retaliation, Gianluca Costantini has been creating portraits of journalists killed in Gaza. Collaborating with the CPJ in New York, he is building a visual memorial to honour their memory.
An artist and activist, Costantini is known for bringing to the forefront the faces of injustice’s victims. His work does not restore what has been lost but rather offers a tribute that preserves the legacy of those who bore witness. His portraits have been displayed at protests and conferences in Atlanta, New York, Berlin, Seattle, and Washington. As in many of his projects, these drawings become tools of communication, carried by citizens demanding truth, justice, and a ceasefire in troubled regions worldwide.
