In the forests that make up the “green border” between Belarus and Poland, refugees from the Middle East and Africa trying to reach the European Union are trapped in a geopolitical crisis engineered by the Belarusian dictator Lukashenko. Refugees are lured to the border by propaganda promising easy passage to the EU. As pawns in this hidden war, the lives of Julia, an activist, Jan, a border guard, and a Syrian family intertwine. This new film by the renowned filmmaker Agnieszka Holland prompts us to question our consciences: “there is no point in engaging in art if we do not fight to ask questions about important, painful and sometimes insoluble issues that present us with some very dramatic choices”.

Theatrical released on March 27, 2024.

This film received the Youth Fiction Jury Prize at the FIFDH 2024.
