Artificial intelligence, now omnipresent and largely unregulated, has begun to profoundly reshape human lives. Its conversational agents, such as ChatGPT, both strikingly convincing and highly practical, are designed to foster dependency, collect data, and blur the boundary between reality and the digital world. By confining individuals within algorithmic bubbles, their use can lead to addiction, isolation and even suicide, while directly threatening democratic processes. Is this so-called “friend” truly benevolent?
