Palestine, 1936. Under the British Mandate, the country is shaken by an uprising against colonial rule as large numbers of Jewish refugees arrive, fleeing an increasingly antisemitic Europe. Caught between his rural upbringing and the vibrancy of Jerusalem, Yusuf dreams of a more secure future. Alongside his fellow Palestinians, he is gradually drawn into the struggle for national liberation as tensions move towards breaking point.
