Recently orphaned, eight-year-old Violette goes to live with her uncle Régis, a maintenance worker at the Palace of Versailles. Shy and withdrawn, she immediately rejects him and decides not to speak to him at all.  Set behind the scenes of the former royal palace, the film follows the slow, sometimes awkward relationship between a stubborn child and an unlikely guardian as they learn to cope with loss and adjust to life together.

The session on March 11 is a RELAX screening. Further information is available at the bottom of the page.
Booking for the screening via Cinémas du Grütli.
In collaboration with Grand Écran pour les enfants – Cinémas du Grütli.

For children aged 6–10. Places are limited.

Free workshop, registration required by email: info@axxis.ong

Workshops take place on the 3rd floor of the Maison des Arts du Grütli.

What is it about?
Violette is 8 years old.
After the death of her parents, she goes to live with her uncle Régis.
Régis works as a maintenance worker at the Palace of Versailles.

At first, Violette does not like her uncle at all.
He smells bad and no longer even speaks to her parents.
So Violette runs away whenever she can. This means that Violette sneaks out whenever she has the chance.

Little by little, Violette and Régis get to know each other and learn to trust each other.
In the corridors of the palace, Violette grows up thanks to:
– her uncle,
– her friend Malcolm,
– the social worker,
– and the other people she meets.

Over time, Violette rebuilds her life and creates a new family.

The film gently addresses difficult subjects:
It deals with the death of loved ones. It also deals with uprooting.
This means changing location and family.

It is also an optimistic story. The story shows that it is important to:
– surround yourself with caring people
– take care of yourself.
