In the West Bank, Basem, played by the strikingly magnetic Saleh Bakri, is trying to reconcile his work as a teacher with his commitment to political resistance and the beginnings of a romantic relationship with Lisa, a British colleague (Imogen Poots). Amid the complexities of life in the Occupied Territories, Basem faces these struggles by becoming a new father figure to young Adam and Yacoub, but also by silently mourning the loss of his own son. Meanwhile, an American couple struggle to find their son, who has been kidnapped by a Palestinian resistance group. Farah Nabulsi’s striking debut feature accurately and intelligently explores the question of attachment and confronts us with a reality that goes beyond fiction
