Driven by peer pressure, Kenyan director Beryl Magoko was excised as a young girl. Thinking it was a simple rite of passage, no one told her how painful and humiliating this act would be. Through frank discussions with other victims of genital mutilation, the filmmaker explores the physical, emotional and relational consequences of FGM as well as potential paths to healing.
