The Displaced
In 1973, Pinochet’s coup violently displaced thousands of families from the Cordillera de Futrono in southern Chile, selling the land to regime allies for pennies. Decades later, much of it is now Huilo-Huilo, a luxury private nature reserve owned by a mining billionaire and celebrated internationally as a conservation model — while the Indigenous Mapuche and campesino families who once stewarded it remain landless and unrecognized.
The Displaced follows Antonia López, displaced from Río Chico at age four, as she leads her community’s fight for land, historical recognition, and justice even as a newly elected far-right government dismantles the institutions that might have supported them.
The impact goals and strategy, teaser and film team contacts will be posted here in February 2027.
