LGBTQIA+ narratives: the challenge of media representations

Ticket

Saturday 15 March – 15h30
Espace Pitoëff - Café du Festival
Rue de Carouge 52, 1205 Geneva

The media help shape our collective imagination and influence social norms, particularly among young people. How do LGBTQIA+ portrayals either dismantle or reinforce stereotypes?

LGBTQIA+ representation in the media plays a vital role: it brings visibility to often marginalised identities but can also perpetuate clichés and biases. This conversation brings together dedicated figures—including those working in media and content creation—to discuss how media narratives can break down stereotypes, reflect a diversity of experiences, and shift social norms. By sharing personal insights and ideas, we will consider the impact of these portrayals on collective perceptions and individual identities, especially among younger audiences.

Event organised by the Geneva Federation of LGBT Associations and by decadréE
