The film Je suis Noires by Rachel M’Bon et Juliana Fanjul, marked a watershed moment in enabling people to speak out. The #Reflect and Rise campaign continues that momentum while ushering in a fresh dynamic of light and the celebration of sisterhood.

On 8 March 2022, Je suis Noires was screened at the FIFDH for the first time. Since then, it has been shown in numerous countries, giving voice to people of colour and raising awareness. While the film painted a clear-eyed picture of structural racism, the #Reflect and Rise global online campaign is resolutely forward-looking. It doesn’t seek to gloss over persistent challenges, but instead to celebrate the power of sisterhood, the collective glow that reflects and uplifts us. On the 8th March 2025, at 15:00, for the launch of #Reflect and Rise, co-director Rachel M’Bon proposes to bring audiences together for a group discussion on the issues surrounding the representation of black women, to define courses of action to combat systemic racism and to develop, together, strategies for healing.
