On 10 July , 2017, after 9 months of fighting, Mosul, Iraq’s second largest city, was liberated from Daech, leaving only devastation. Who will lift Mosul up? Who will rebuild its western shore, martyred by the fighting? Who will restore the heritage destroyed by Daech? Over the course of a year, Anne Poiret followed the Iraqis’ efforts to rebuild their city. Through key figures, she documented the difficulties faced by the population, the complacency of the Iraqi administration and, more broadly, the hesitations of the international community.
