In the saline wetlands of Kochi, in South West India, Vincent cultivates Pokkali, a rare salt-tolerant rice with a farming system that has sustained his people for centuries. As climate change makes each growing season more uncertain, and ageing and economic hardship threaten the family’s future, Vincent’s son Babu mortgages his home so his own son can leave. But an unexpected loss forces Babu to reconsider – will he carry forward a farming tradition that may hold vital lessons for a warming world?
