Resisting Authoritarianism
The 24th edition of the FIFDH took place from March 6 to 15, 2026, at a time of accelerating authoritarianism, weakening international law and growing repression. Civilians, and especially marginalised groups, are bearing the brunt of these shifts.
In response to these threats, the FIFDH chose to highlight collective mobilization and solidarity as essential forms of resistance. 54 films from 40 countries were on the programme along with 21 forums and 3 Impact Spotlights. During 10 days, the Festival hosted more than 32’000 festival-goers, over 220 guests, 200 volunteers, 50 team members and 127 partners.
For this 24th edition, the Festival gathered activists, filmmakers, journalists and artists, such as Adèle Haenel, Francesca Albanese, Yara El-Ghadban, Claire Denis, Vanessa Eileen Thompson, Féris Barkat, Nina Meurisse, Susan Stryker and Charles Villa.
