Essential to the manufacture of smartphones, this rare mineral is extracted under extreme working conditions. Structured as a chronicle of everyday life, the documentary follows residents caught in an opaque system of exploitation sustained by ongoing armed conflict, and questions each viewer’s responsibility within the machinery of globalised capitalism.
