Médecins Sans Frontières Switzerland, an FIFDH Main Partner, invites you to a screening of the documentary Khartoum, winner of the Gilda Viera de Mello Prize at the FIFDH 2025. The screening will be followed by a discussion on the humanitarian situation in Sudan and by an aperitif.

The film:

Khartoum, 2022. Four Sudanese filmmakers, joined by a British director-writer, film the city and its inhabitants using mobile phones. Amid extreme political tension, they encounter five people yearning for freedom: a civil servant, a tea vendor, a Sufi resistance fighter, and two street children. The team depicts the stark reality of one of Africa’s largest cities during a civil war that forces over ten million people, including the film’s protagonists and the filmmakers themselves, to flee to East Africa. And yet, even far from Khartoum, the story continues, incorporating animation, reconstructions, and documentary footage.

The discussion:

Following the screening, Sylvain Perron, head of the Sudan program at MSF Switzerland, will share his field experience in Sudan, particularly in West Darfur. The discussion will be moderated by Bayron Schwyn, head of ArcInfo’s World service. The event will be concluded by an apéritif.

This event will be held in French only.
