FIFDH 2027: Call for films
The FIFDH is launching the call for films for its 25th edition, which will take place from 5 to 14 March 2027 in Geneva. The Festival invites filmmakers and producers from around the world to submit their works for the official selection.
Faithful to its commitment to human rights, the Festival is seeking socially engaged fiction films and documentaries that highlight stories of struggle and resistance—both individual and collective—and shed light on realities that are too often overlooked or marginalized.
Deadline for films submissions is 28 July 2026 at midnight CET.
Selected films may be presented across several sections of the Festival and compete for the following Awards:
International Documentary Competition
Geneva Grand Award FIFDH
Gilda Vieira de Mello Award FIFDH
Youth Jury Award – Documentary
Fiction Competition
Fiction Grand Award FIFDH
Youth Jury Award – Fiction
Focus Competition
Vision for Human Rights Award
Forum: films focused on specific themes, screened ahead of discussions with international guests.
School Programme: screenings and discussions designed for school audiences, accompanied by awareness-raising activities.

Only films meeting the following criteria will be considered for selection:
Documentary or fiction films recently completed (between 1 January 2026 and 1 February 2027) with a minimum duration of 52 minutes.
Films addressing topics related to human rights and/or the environment.
The FIFDH requires the Swiss premiere exclusivity of the film.
Submissions must include a screener of the finished film or a rough cut.
