By strategically engaging a receptive audience as a tipping point for change, the campaign will foster understanding and promote the social acceptability and recognition of LGBTQ and trans communities through the humanizing stories of the film’s protagonists. Through these efforts, the campaign aims to create safe spaces for dialogue, reduce stigma, and amplify marginalized voices.
Impact Goals
- Foster dialogue between LGBTQ individuals, their families, moderate groups Muslims and heterosexual audiences.
- Encourage neutral and informed media portrayals of trans individuals.
- Raise awareness on trans issues among medical professionals to ensure access to healthcare for trans people.
Impact Strategy
- Targeted closed-door screenings of a cut-down version of the film in Malaysia. Target groups: A) Family members of trans people; B) Healthcare professionals; C) Media professionals (TBD); D) Moderate Muslim groups.
- Wider online and offline campaign on trans issues in collaboration with allies, local NGOs, influencers, musicians and theatre practitioners. Details are to be discussed with partners. This may or may not be directly linked to the film.
