This year we:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"block-7da1a71b-f95a-4556-ac04-de04c6cff5d7\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Welcomed over 220 international participants, including 115 social justice, environmental, and philanthropic organisations, as well as over 100 documentary filmmakers and impact practitioners<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Curated 15 moderated roundtables, with filmmakers and closely aligned organisations and foundations. Concrete collaborations are already being confirmed, such as between <em>Reporters Sans Fronti\u00e8res<\/em> (RSF) and the project <em>This Is Not A Civil War <\/em>&#8211; details to come!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Secured the participation of 20 new organisations and associations, amongst which: <em>Artistic Freedom Initiative<\/em>, the <em>Centre for Civil and Political Rights<\/em> (CCPR), the <em>Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue<\/em> (HD), <em>European Institute of Peace<\/em> (EIP), <em>European Network Against Racism<\/em> (ENAR), <em>Handicap International<\/em>, <em>Nature Positive Initiative<\/em>, <em>Olympic Refuge Foundation<\/em> and <em>UNAIDS<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Brought together funders from 3 different continents: <em>Another Story<\/em> <em>Foundation<\/em> (France), <em>Doc Society<\/em> (UK), <em>Luminate Group<\/em> (UK), <em>IUCN Netherlands<\/em>, <em>Working Films<\/em> (USA), <em>IRIS<\/em> (USA), <em>The StoryBoard Collective<\/em> (Switzerland), <em>DocA \u2013 Documentary Africa<\/em>, among others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enjoyed a new collaboration with <em>SWISS FILMS<\/em>, with a networking dinner after our Swiss Focus event for Swiss impact stakeholders of all language regions, our international Impact Days guests, and Swiss filmmakers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We added two new awards, with three new partners: <em>Working Films<\/em>, <em>Another Story Foundation<\/em> and <em>Impact Social Club<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thanks to the contacts made last year, our Impact Lab 2025 project <em><a href=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2025\/yurlu-country\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2025\/yurlu-country\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yurlu | Country<\/a><\/em> was able to come back this year to take part in a UN side-event. The film was also screened in our FIFDH Impact Spotlight section, as was another ID25 project, <em><a href=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2025\/traces\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2025\/traces\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Traces<\/a><\/em>. In addition to these, previous Impact Lab projects <em><a href=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2024\/runa-simi\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2024\/runa-simi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Runa Simi<\/a><\/em> and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2023\/scarlet-girls\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2023\/scarlet-girls\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scarlet Girls<\/a> <\/em>were also screened to great acclaim in the main public festival programme this year!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>And the winners are\u2026<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Following our August 2025 call for impact-driven documentary projects, we received almost 200 submissions from 70 countries, with all 5 continents represented. Twelve were selected to participate in our annual Impact Lab by a committee based in Kenya, Denmark, Jordan and Argentina, and a further four Swiss co-productions were selected for our Swiss Focus section. One unfortunately had to drop out halfway through the Lab due to recent world events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The teams worked online for several weeks with tutors from Mexico, Indonesia, USA, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Belgium, Colombia, Kenya and France to produce an impact strategy and pitch for presentation to potential partners and funders in Geneva.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Together with the four projects selected for our Swiss Focus event, these twelve projects received several awards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:30px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The<strong>&nbsp;StoryBoard Impact Award&nbsp;<\/strong>of 10,000 CHF was presented to:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2026\/olimbi-mother-courage\/\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2026\/olimbi-mother-courage\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Olimbi &#8211; Mother Courage<\/a> <\/strong>by Karlo Mlinar (Croatia)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><em>After her husband\u2019s death in 2003, Olimbi Hoxhaj learned that she and three of her four children were HIV positive in Albania, where treatment did not exist. Confronting stigma, institutional neglect, and patriarchal silence, she transformed personal loss into public action. The film reveals how one mother\u2019s courage reshaped public awareness and helped secure treatment for thousands. It was awarded to:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2026\/this-is-not-a-civil-war\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">This Is Not a Civil War<\/a> <\/strong>by Hnin Thet Hmu Khin (Myanmar) and Oliver Petrie (France)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Hnin, 26, a Burmese activist exiled in Thailand after the 2021 coup and her participation in anti-junta protests, returns clandestinely to Myanmar to observe the evolution of the revolution in her country. In the jungles and cities, she discovers a young generation fighting to rebuild the country without weapons, through education, healthcare, and independent or clandestine media. It was awarded to:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2026\/the-quiet-part\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">The Quiet Part<\/a> <\/strong>by Rachel Lauren Mueller (United States)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><em>When a pagan white supremacist group arrives in a Minnesotan farming town, it sparks an intense struggle over who has the right to belong, offering a disturbing warning about the normalization of extremism. It was awarded to:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2026\/to-the-moon-and-back\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">To the Moon and Back<\/a> <\/strong>by Elisa G\u00f3mez Alvarez (Germany)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>At Asclepios, a Swiss-based, student-led analog space mission under the mentorship of astronaut Claude Nicollier, Pauline from the Philippines and Ilyasse from Morocco train side by side. The film exposes how the new space race reproduces old hierarchies of gender, geography, and access to STEM education. It was awarded to:<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/fifdh.org\/en\/pro\/catalogue\/2026\/gaza-sunbirds\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Gaza Sunbirds<\/a> <\/strong>by Flavia Cappellini (Italy)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Ala\u2019a, a young Gazan cycling champion, sees his life change forever when he\u2019s shot by an Israeli sniper. Determined to rebuild, he sets his sights on the Paralympics, inspiring others to join him.
