It takes the form of a voice-over describing what is happening on screen &#8211; in order to enable everyone to follow the plot. Every year at the FIFDH, several films are shown with audio description and subtitles via the <a href=\"https:\/\/regards-neufs.ch\/fr\/films\/applications-mobiles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Greta application<\/a>, thanks to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regards-neufs.ch\/fr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Regards Neufs<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:var(--wp--preset--spacing--50)\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><strong>Using the Greta App<\/strong>lication<\/strong><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>We recommend that you complete these steps in advance, for example at home. Here\u2019s how to proceed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Before the screening<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Connect your smartphone to the internet (e.g. at home)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download the <a href=\"https:\/\/regards-neufs.ch\/fr\/films\/applications-mobiles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Greta application<\/a>, for instance from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.regards-neufs.ch\/fr\/films\/applications-mobiles\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Regards Neufs<\/a> website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Activate the \u2018audio description\u2019 option in the settings<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Log in or create an account (if you create an account, you will receive an e-mail to confirm your registration. You will need to click on it before you can log in).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Search for the desired film under the \u2018events\u2019 category.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Download the audio description.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure your phone battery is fully charged before the screening.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">In the cinema<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>When you enter the cinema, open the selected film on the Greta app. You do not need internet access during the film if the audio description has been downloaded in advance. Synchronisation takes place without the internet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When the film starts, during synchronisation, you will hear a heartbeat-like sound for a few seconds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Make sure your phone&#8217;s microphone is not covered. The app uses the phone&#8217;s microphone to synchronise the audio subtitles. All French films are subtitled in English.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All French films are now also subtitled in French. This allows for broader understanding. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing (SME)<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing (SME) are integrated directly into the image and visible to everyone. They reproduce the dialogue and sound information necessary for understanding. During the discussion sessions held as part of the Forums, the speakers\u2019 words are transcribed in real time and immediately displayed on screen (in French only).
