Closing of the Human Rights Film Tour

After 45 events on all continents, the FIFDH's tour ended in Cairo.

After 45 events in 40 countries and on all continents, the FIFDH Tour ended in Cairo on 10 December 2018, the 70th anniversary day of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The Egyptian capital city hosted the official closing of the Tour in the presence of Isabelle Gattiker, Director of the FIFDH, and James Berclaz Lewis, Tour Coordinator.

Supported by the FIFDH, with the support of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the Human Rights Film Tour lasted one year. From 10 December 2017 to 10 December 2018, the Swiss Embassies of the 40 countries visited organised evenings on the FIFDH concept: "one film, one subject, one debate". Six Swiss films were screened throughout the year, followed by discussions with local NGOs, journalists, schools and activists.

Women's rights, universal justice, the death penalty, intolerance or migration, the films and debates of the Human Rights Film Tour have made it possible to give a voice to human rights defenders and to open the debate in countries that are often directly concerned by these issues.
