India: environmental challenges and global actions - with Vandana Shiva

Vandana Shiva, a pioneer of ecofeminism and a leading figure in the fight against GMOs, will honour us with a meeting where we will discuss her different struggles and commitments. A trained physicist, she turned to interdisciplinary research in science, technology, and environmental policy. This led her to establish numerous research centres and associations such as "Navdanya", a national movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources, in particular indigenous seeds, the promotion of organic agriculture and fair trade. Her ecological activities and her various books such as "Staying Alive, Who Really Feeds the World?" and "Ecofeminism", have earned her numerous honorary doctorates and various awards including the Alternative Nobel Prize in 1993.
