A woman gives birth to a girl when her family was hoping for a boy. No one wants the mother or her baby. Three women prisoners escape but the fact that they have no money pushes them to commit a desperate act. A young illegal alien woman is reduced to begging and lies. Having run away to get an abortion, an unmarried woman is subjected to her brothers’ violence. Constantly watched over, controlled by crushing bureaucracy and scandalous discrimination, these six women’s paths will cross. The stifling pressures to which each is subjected fail to undermine the group’s strength and courage.
